Trude and I went
into town to do some shopping and I sent a postcard to Per and Lasse.
I am on holiday, that is what you do. I did not send one to Owe, I
thought I will see him soon anyway.
Trude is expecting
holiday guests on Friday and I helped her get the cottage ready. They
are the first guests of the season, so we moved furniture etc. The
kids were at home with their mother and their friends, the mother
still needs to rest. Trude tried to stop me from moving some items of
furniture, she admitted she is under instruction to keep me from
overdoing it. I helped with the afternoon milking and cousin stayed
for dinner with us and I asked Trude and him about farming and took
notes for my report. He has kept a cow in as she will calf soon. It
will be her first. The dogs are a bit restless tonight.
Trude called me to
join her outside just as I was going to bed. She had been out to
check on the cow and there were some Northern lights. We are a bit
too far inland and south to have great effect, but it is still an
eery experience. Almost alien.
Today the sun has
been out and we went to the den. There is a small pond nearby and we
looked for frogs and their offspring. We also had some fishing gear
with us, but luckily did not catch anything. Kerstin cooked. We found
some wild strawberries! It is very early for those! In the afternoon
I helped cousin with his fieldwork again, we spread muck on the
pasture which was vacated earlier this week and another field further
away. Puuh, that smell hangs around! I washed my clothes tonight! The
cow which is to become a mother was excited to see her comrades at
milking time. I talked with cousin what a strain it is to have to
milk twice a day. He said it is not for everyone, to be a dairy
farmer. You either love it or don't. He misses it if they – rarely
– go away for a few days. We had a few good chats in the milking
parlour. He took some photos of me doing the milking, his Farmer's
magazine is running a competition. He said the women hate to be
photographed, but he wanted a human in the picture. He got a good one
when I got drenched as I was preoccupied that I had not noticed the
cow next to me getting her tail up for a piss. It is quite
astonishing how much mess the cows make while in the parlour. One has
to be very careful. I have tried some of the warm milk, it is very
nice. Actually, I have had fresh milk with my porridge every morning
and I have been fine! I have also tried the suction cups. Cousin
found my observations very interesting. Luckily I used my fingers to
test it. I would not stick my dick in that!
Trude is out
tonight, some social evening at the church hall. She invited me, but
I quite enjoy to have some time to myself! It has been quite full on
all week! I guess that is what I wanted, get away from my “normal”
life.
